Major Chemical leak causing panic in WV

1 State and federal authorities are working around the clock in Charleston West Virginia, after a spilled leak chemicals into the Elk river just one mile upstream from a local water treatment facility.

2 So the spill comes from a 48 thousands gallon Chemical storage tank from Freedom Industries.

3 Right now WV governor Earl Ray Tomblin has declared a state of emergency for 9 counties surrounding in Charleston WV.

4 Schools and businesses have been closed and a three hundreds thousands or so, residents that have been affected by the spill (private still), are told not to drink the water not even to wash their hands with it, only use it to flash the toilet and in case of fire emergency.

5 Meanwhile president Barack Obama has declared a federal emergency in WV.

6 F.E.M.A(Federal Emergency Management Agency)(See my end of the )and the department and Homeland Security are both getting involved in the relief efforts (least up) to right now, as investigaters try to figure out how contaminated the water is, how serious the problem is, and how they can go ahead and (heading to) fix it.

7 Now the president of Freedom Industries the company that actually leaked those chemirals put out of the statements just a litte bit ago today,and I want to (one we will) report it.

8 It says(said) quote “we have been working with local and federal and safety and environmental entities,including the DEP,Coast Guard,Army Corp of Engineers and Homeland Security,and they're following all (are following all) necessary steps to fix the issue.

9 Our team has been working around the clock since the discovery to contain the leak to  prevent further contamination.

10 Now the same I went on to say that (way onto as to say) the company doesn't know how the leak happened in the first place,and also it (it also) doesn't know exactly how much of the chemical was released.

11 Now this chemical is a foaming agent used in the coal process.
Coal of course is a major industry in WV and this chemical is actually used right before the coal goes to market (the driver for coal going to the market) in order to clean it.

12 Something else that authorities don't know at the moment is the possible hazard that this chemical has on a human body.

13 So far no one has been reported as experiencing  negative side of effects as the result of this.

14 However a number of people have gone to the local hospitals to be checked the possible symptoms, but again no one yet has been reported as been sick.

15 Now something else to keep in mind here is that some of the symptoms is that are involved in this,that (with the) authorities are warning residents of is burning throat,itching hands and arms and skin and a lot of other symptoms that are just really scary to begin with.

16 Local grocery store owners have described the mad dash  by local residents there as  pandemonium in order to (all to) get their hands on some clean bottles of water.

17 Residents there are even resorting buying bags of ice and sporting drinks and soda,things (anything) like that.In order to have something to drink, as there is a shortage right now at the moment.

18 We don't know right now how long it is going to take for the spill may be cleaned up,But residents are hopeful it will be done in the next few days.
